Party and Play Drug Info

On this page we have listed brief info on drugs that are sometimes combined with sex. This page explains some of the desired effects of these drugs. There is more information about drug use and harms on other pages of this online resource. There is no level of drug use that is totally safe. Use of any drug always carries some risk and it is important to educate yourself and be careful when taking any type of drug.

Crystal methamphetamine (ice, tina) is a stimulant drug. This means it speeds up the messages travelling between the brain and the body. It is stronger than the powder form of methamphetamine known as speed.  Sex on crystal changes the sense of time for us and can make us want adventurous sex with a lot of partners. Sex on crystal lasts longer than sex when sober and can keep us going for days. Crystal can make us feel euphoric and uninhibited.

GHB (G, Gina, GBL, 1-4BD) when GHB is taken in high doses it becomes a depressant meaning that it slows down messages travelling between the brain and body.  G can make us feel horny and more connected to those around us, which is why it is used for sex.

Cocaine is a stimulant. When we use cocaine, we may experience increased confidence and motivation. It’s also common to experience feelings of euphoria and reduced inhibitions.

Ketamine (Ket, Special K, or K) is a dissociative drug. Some of us might experience hallucinations after taking ketamine. Some report a disconnection from the body or a feeling of lightness or clumsiness.

Ecstasy/MDMA increases feelings of empathy towards others. It can make us ‘feel’ and connect with our senses. MDMA can lower inhibitions and give us a strong desire to share ‘loved up’ feelings and connect with others

Cannabis, (weed, grass, marijuana) when we use cannabis some of us experience increased feelings of relaxation.  Sometimes cannabis is used to deal with ‘come down’ effects of stimulant drugs.

Erection meds  (Viagra, Cialis) can be used to relax muscles found in the walls of blood vessels and increases blood flow in order to give us an erection.  For those of us with a penis, Viagra helps us to get hard and stay hard.

Amyl Nitrite (poppers) is classified as an inhalant. It causes blood vessels in the body to expand which makes blood pressure lower. The high from poppers hits within seconds and last a few minutes. Poppers can give us pleasure during sex. Poppers can also make anal sex more comfortable as they relax muscles.

Info on this page is brief and it has been taken from the Alcohol and Drug Foundation website as well as the ACON website How Hard. On Pivot Point we have a resource directory with more information about each of the listed drugs.
